October ends with a fantastic and busy week!! Congratulations to our Boys Varsity Cross Country runners for taking 3rd place in the Championship Meet on Sunday! What a fantastic job all season, and we are so proud! Paul, Sawyer, Ian, Patrick, Mason, and Coach McDonald – Congratulations!!
Our 8th Graders, along with Mrs. Langella, began a recycling initiative here at school. They saw the need to improve and decided to make a positive change. They visited the dumpster area to determine which dumpster is for recycling, they created posters, and visited every classroom to explain the recycling rules. Our new recycling monitors collect the classroom recycling bins at the end of each day and place the contents in a large recycling container which then gets emptied into the dumpster. I love the initiative taken by the class to make a change for our community and our planet!
Our 5th Graders just love the Chinese Water Dragon! They also went to Mass together this week.
On Wednesday, our Kindergarten and 6th Grade Prayer Partners got together for some yummy treats and pumpkin decorating. So much fun! The teachers and I even enjoyed using the photo props!
Also on Wednesday, our 3rd Graders continued their penguin study at Jenkinson’s Aquarium. Walking in the mist and fog didn’t dampen anyone’s excitement! The students got to weigh out the amount of fish each penguin eats – it was a slimy and awesome experience! There was a quick stop by the touch tank before visiting the penguin exhibit on the way out. Thanks Jenkinson’s!
On Thursday, we took the 7th and 8th Grades to New York City! We toured Saint Patrick’s Cathedral and Rockefeller Center, had lunch at Applebees and then saw Phantom of the Opera! It was an absolutely amazing day!
On Friday, our PreK 4 and 5th Grade Prayer Partners came together for a Halloween story and a craft. The 5th Graders made little crosses with their prayer partners’ names on them and presented them to our PreK students. Together they made Halloween bats and had a wonderful afternoon.
Friday night was one of our favorite family events – Trunk or Treat! The costumes and the cars were fabulous and everyone had such a fun night! Special thanks to Shannon Hunnewell for heading up the event this year!
And finally, the grand finale of October, our annual Halloween Parade! Parents lined the streets and watched all of our students parade around the block and then proudly show off their costumes in our parking lot. Even the Bishop surprised us with a visit! Our staff got into the action with our theme this year: Principal Snow White and the Thirteen Dwarves, Happy, Doc, Sleepy, Bashful, Grumpy, Sparkle, Flower, Grammy, Boujee, Shorty, Hocus, Pocus, and Smarty, along with the Witch, Huntsman, Mirror, and Poison Apple! What a fun team we have!!
