St. Peter School Celebrates Catholic Schools Week with Interactive Scavenger Hunt
On Thursday, January 30, St. Peter School in celebration of Catholic Schools Week hosted a unique scavenger hunt led by Mrs. Shannon Hunnewell, with the support of the school’s Catholic School Committee. The event was designed to engage students in a deeper understanding of their faith, with a special focus on Carlo Acutis, the young saint of the first millennium.
Throughout the hunt, each stop highlighted key aspects of Carlo’s life, encouraging students to learn about his path to sainthood and how they, too, could live with holiness. Every station featured an interactive QR code, which allowed students to access engaging content about Carlo’s life and values.
Carlo Acutis, known for his love of soccer, was honored in the school’s gym where students took turns kicking soccer balls, channeling the spirit of their favorite saint. In honor of Carlo's favorite food—pizza—the students enjoyed pizza bagel treats, adding a delicious twist to their day.
The school also incorporated STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) to honor Carlo’s passion for technology and creativity. Students collaborated to build a “Spiderman City,” inspired by Carlo’s favorite superhero, which was proudly displayed in the school’s library.
Reflecting Carlo’s love for nature and photography, students brought in their own nature photographs, which were displayed throughout the school lobby for the entire week, giving everyone a chance to appreciate the beauty of God's creation.
The scavenger hunt was not only a fun and educational experience but also a powerful way for students to connect with the life of a modern-day saint who lived with faith, joy, and a deep sense of service.
